artist bio
randy9000 aka blis aka Randy Lee likes to say he's a professional hip-hop fan. His passion for the music began in South Florida, where he'd get mixed tapes from the barber shop and fed his love for the artform with a steady diet of Public Enemy, Rakim, Fat Boys, and more. After moving to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University, he began practicing his craft during open mics and cypher battles. For eight years, he hosted the college radio show "Underground Railroad," on WVFS Tallahassee. He also regularly performed with his band the Basemint, as well as spent nights djaying at local clubs.
His passion for social justice then brought him to Cleveland, where he studied law at Case Western Reserve University. He took a break from music during those years in law school, but rekindled the flame when he moved to Brooklyn in 2006. Since then, he's managed artists, collaborated with various collectives, learned how to make beats, started a hip-hop focused podcast, and consistently released original music on SoundCloud.
